SGC-2 Modular Solar Charge Controller with integrated battery and Tariffing support
Overview
The SGC-2 is a high performance solar charge controller with integrated battery, information display, USB host interface and pre/post paid tariffing system.
The SGC-2 contains a high performance gel lead acid battery explicitly designed for cycling solar power systems combined with a microprocessor controlled regulator in an modular easy to install no tools required) package. The regulator provides advanced load management for under and over voltage battery and overload protection. Each load pair has a built in, automatically resetting, circuit breaker to prevent system damage from load faults or cable shorts.
The display shows system status in easy to understand graphics indicating state of charge, days of light remaining, total credit remaining, power cost and load disconnect indication.
System and regulator parameters can be configured from the USB Flash drive.
The USB token based tariffing system supports pre-paid and post-paid operation with strong encryption to ensure credit bought for a system can only be used on that system. It is suitable for deployment into both micro-business and energy utility contexts.
The use of a 6V battery ensures the system is not easily re-purposed to cars or farm equipment in deployment.
