Many people ask us how they can help provide light into developing countries. Solar-Gem's aim is to manufacture and sell off-grid lighting systms for use in developing countries. We rely on governments, corporations, and non-government aid organizations to purchase and deploy the lighting systems where they are needed.

To help some of the smaller aid organizatins get started we are collecting donations to assist them in acquiring lighting systems.

As we are not a registered charity in Australia so your donations unfortunately count as income and if your are a private individual you will not get a tax deduction. If you are a corporation you can treat the donation as a marketing expense.

The fact that the donation is income to use washes out (apart from the government GST tax) when we donate the lighign systems to NGO's in Australia for use around the world. When we donate directly to overseas NGO's we can not claim a matching tax deductions (it gets messy) so we prefer to donate to registered charities in Austrlaia that provide support for lighting systems to developing countries.

Donations are accepted via PayPal (simpler for everybody) and you can select where your donation of light goes by clicking the appropriate button. Your donations will be passed on to organisations deploying lighting systems into the country or region of yor choice. Where possible we donate to "accredited" organisations that have a track record of working in cooperation with UN or World Bank projects.

Please donate as much as you can. When we get enough ($US1000) for a lighting system in any area (e.g. Malawi) we pass the lighting system along to the NGO.
